4 Generations Of Building Quality Relationships & Projects in the Pikes Peak Region "SINCE 1974"
The Story of The
Green family construction business started in the early twentieth
century. Around 1919,
Ira Green left St. Louis, Missouri where he had worked in a wagon
wheel shop making wheels and components for various types of horse
drawn vehicles. His dreams led him west at sixteen years of age and
he settled in Carbondale, Colorado around 1920.
He noticed the need for a carpenter in the area and started a
small business building structures for the local residents.
During the 1920’s, he completed many homes and commercial
buildings up and down the Roaring Fork River Valley.
The 1930’s began and along with raising a large family, Ira
was constructing many of the railroad bridges from Glenwood Springs,
Colorado and west.
After completing
a stretch in the Marine Corps during WWII, Ira’s son Ed Green
joined the company and moved to Fountain, Colorado.
Recognizing the need in the area for a general construction
company, he joined with his father and several business partners to
form a construction company. Over the next twenty years, the company grew in reputation
and stature in the community and surrounding area due to the quality
of workmanship and attention to customer satisfaction shown by
everyone in the organization.
In the
mid-seventies, Ed Green recruited his son Fred, after his honorable
discharge from the U.S Navy during the Vietnam war era, and Ed Green
& Son Construction was born. Over the next few years, the company continued to grow in
size and reputation. In
1994, shortly after Ed passed away, Fred Green took over and changed
the company name to Ed Green Construction Co. in honor of his dad.
Soon after Fred’s son Josh and his nephew Dominic joined as
part of the construction team.
By this time, John McDermott had joined the company as a
partner and officer. He
relocated the company in 1998 to Colorado Springs to be more
centrally located and to better serve his clients.
The company’s
reputation for quality work done in a timely manner that was
completed well within the client’s budget continued.
Approximately 85% of the companies business comes from either
repeat customers or referrals.
The types of projects Ed Green Construction handles have
varied over the years and included work for telephone companies,
city and county governments as well as state and federal projects
